This is an on-campus, lecture course with an expected enrolment of ~100 students. Applicants should have teaching and research experience at the University level in Environmental Sociology (M.A. or Ph.D.). This is a winter term appointment for the period January 1, 2011 – April 30, 2011. The University invites applications from all qualified individuals. A suitably qualified candidate who is a graduate student at Queen's teaching a course in their discipline is eligible for appointment as a Teaching Fellow during the period of their employment. If the graduate student is teaching a course in a different discipline then they would be eligible for appointment as a Term Adjunct. Course Calendar Description: ENSC 390*/0.5 Sustainability 2L, 1S The concept of sustainability provides a focus for discussing global and regional environmental issues in the broadest possible perspective. This course will examine the meaning of sustainability and ways in which it is assessed at various levels including individual lifestyles, ecological, agricultural and industrial systems, urban areas, regions within countries, nations, and the world as a whole. Case studies will be used to illustrate the general principles. PREREQUISITE Third-year standing.
